Botox Injections

Botox injections have been popularized by the mainstream media, as celebrities and public figures have endorsed their positive and youthful effects. Botox injections are made strictly from lab tested bacteria, and its sole purpose is to relax the face so that prominent wrinkles and lines disappear. Botox injections have also been proven to treat muscle weakness and migraines. Once injected, the client sees the full result within two weeks while lasting 3 to 4 months before wearing off and at $500 a session, botox injections are less costly than dermal fillers. The common misconception that botox injections and dermal fillers have the same effect on a person has been disproven numerous times, so let’s dive deeper into dermal fillers.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers treat wrinkles and laugh lines, but they are also used to pump up cheeks and lips for a more youthful appearance and in some rarer instances are used to treat hand scars and treatments. Just like Botox, they are injectable and come in different materials and gels: Calcium hydroxyapatite, a type of gel that lasts 18 months, Collagen that lasts up to 4 months, hyaluronic acid that lasts anywhere from 6 to 12 months and polylactic acid that lasts close to two years.  Dermal fillers typically last longer than Botox injections depending on what type of material you choose to be injected and have been proven effective over the last two decades. Dermal fillers range from $630 to $2000 depending on your chosen material.

Side-Effects

Just like any other cosmetic procedure, there will always be risks involved no matter how trained the technician is. Botox injections can result in eye redness and irritation, bruising at the spot of the injection, headaches and dropping eyelids. Dermal fillers are a more intense treatment and more severe negative side effects can occur such as infection, allergic reaction, scarring and numbness.

Testimonial

I came to the International Beauty Institute 3 years ago. I needed to do something different in my life beside shift work. I was very nervous about coming back to school, since I been out for a long time. When I came for a tour, I was very happy with what I saw, the class sizes were small, and that made me feel more comfortable. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, I felt like I was part of an IBI family. I ended up getting a full time job, where I’m very happy. I have no regrets, with the choices I have made, by picking IBI. It was the best experience in my life, thank you everyone at IBI!! If you are thinking about becoming a Medical Aesthetician, don’t hesitate to visit IBI!
